A Message from Bob Fox
Chairman 2009
My year began in January with the Guild's AGM, held in the beautiful
surroundings of
Pewterers' Hall. The out-going Chairman gave a review
of his term of office and I was delighted, if not a little awed, to
takeover from such an effective leader.
The three basic elements of any Guild or Livery Company are, Education, Charity and Fellowship and through
its charitable work the Guild supports groups dedicated to helping
young people enjoy sporting activities. The Guild turned out in force
at the annual sailing competition at the
Docklands Sailing Centre and I
was honoured to present some of the prizes.
In terms of Fellowship the Guild was equally active in bringing
together the City of London Beadles in a number of social events
including a '
Medieval Night' at St. Katherine's Dock and a fine,
well-attended lunch at Cutlers' Hall.
November saw a splendid, if not a little damp,
Lord Mayor's Show and
many of our members were involved in putting on this world-renowened
event. They should have dried out by now! (This clip begins with the Beadle to the Information Technologists leading a small but happy band.)
My thanks to all my fellow beadles for their support over the year and I wish them all a very happy and successful 2010.
